How to resolve Disney Plus Not Working on LG TV ?
1. Ensure That Your LG Smart TV Is Compatible With Disney Plus
Most LG TV models from 2016 or later, running on LG's webOS, are compatible with the Disney+ app. For a full list of LG TV models that support Disney+, please visit the Disney+ page on LG's website.
If your TV is not compatible with Disney+, your two main choices are to replace the television or attach a streaming stick. A streaming stick is a more affordable and simpler solution.
You can watch Disney Plus on any television, be it a smart TV or otherwise, simply by adding a Fire TV Stick or a Roku streaming stick. Both of these devices are extremely user-friendly and come preloaded with all the major streaming apps.
2. Restart or Power Cycle Your LG TV
If you are still experiencing an issue with your app, it may be due to a software glitch. To address this, try restarting the device. This is the most common solution for software problems, and it may help resolve your issue.
If you want to restart your LG TV apps, the best way to do so is to completely power off the TV. To do this, press and hold the power button on your remote until the TV turns off. This will force a restart of all active apps and give you a fresh start.
So do the below:
- Unplug your TV from the electrical outlet.
- Press and hold the power button on the TV (not the remote) for at least one minute.
- Plug the TV to the wall socket.
Attempt a restart of the Disney Plus app. It is possible that this will solve any issues you are experiencing with the app. Keep these instructions handy in case you need to refer to them again.
3. Test the Speed of Your Internet Connection
Disney+ and other video streaming apps may experience buffering issues due to slow internet speeds. In cases where internet speeds are too slow or unreliable, you may not even be able to connect to the Disney+ servers.
In order to determine your internet speed, you can conduct an Internet Speed Test https://www.speedtest.net/ on either your computer or smartphone. Ensure that the device you are using is connected to the same network as your TV. For those using a phone, make sure to turn off your mobile data and only use Wi-Fi.
If your internet speeds are slower than 3-4 Mbps for standard streaming and 5-8 Mbps for HD, you should take the below steps to improve it:
- Investigate potential sources of interference, such as the number of walls between your router and TV.
- Reboot your router and modem (instructions can be found in the next tip).
- Reach out to your internet provider to determine if there are any network issues or if an upgrade is necessary.
4. Restart your router and modem
It's likely that your local Wi-Fi network is the cause of the issue when trying to use the Disney Plus app on your TV, rather than the TV or the app itself.
Rather than attempting to identify and fix each potential network issue, it can be more efficient to simply reset your entire network. Doing so monthly can help keep your network running optimally.
Before continuing, ensure that no one in your household is currently using the internet. This process will temporarily disconnect all network and internet connections for about five minutes while rebooting.
Alright, let's get things going.
- Disconnect the power from your modem and router.
- Allow thirty (30) seconds to pass.
- Reconnect the power to the modem and router.
- Give it a few minutes for them to fully boot up.
If you're having trouble running the Disney+ app after reconnecting your TV to the network, it's a good idea to check your network speeds again. If they were slow when you tested before, a restart of your router may give you a temporary boost in speed. However, it's not a solution for all underlying problems.
5. Perform LG TV Firmware Update
Much like updating apps on your device, updating the firmware on your TV can often resolve any issues you may be having with the TV's apps.
LG Smart TVs feature an auto-update capability, but it is also possible to manually force a firmware update. This is not a necessary step, however, it is a beneficial tool should automatic updates be disabled or if a failure to update occurs without you being aware.
To update your TV:
- Press the Settings button on your remote and go to All Settings.
- Under the General tab, select About this TV and click Check for updates.
- After the update is installed, follow the instructions to power cycle your TV.
After updating the firmware, give the Disney+ app another try.
6. Uninstall and then reinstall the Disney Plus App
By reinstalling the application, you can easily fix many app-specific issues that are caused by data buildup. While you can clear the cache manually on LG TVs, this method is much simpler.
In order to get Disney Plus up and running again, you'll need to remove the app and then install it again.
To delete the Disney Plus app on your remote:
- Press the Home button, go to Disney + app, select and hold it.
- Then click the trash bin icon above it.
- Confirm the deletion by pressing Yes in the pop-up.
To Reinstall Disney+ on your LG TV:
- Press the Home button on the remote.
- Then select the LG Content Store.
- Once in the store, select the search icon in the top right corner of the screen, type in "Disney+" in the search box, and select it from the results.
- To begin the installation, press the Install button.
Input your login details once more and attempt to use the Disney Plus app once again. Remember, the prior install won't save your credentials, so you'll have to enter them again.
7. Agree to LG's User Agreements
In order to access all of LG's features and apps, you must accept all of the license agreements.
So do the below:
- Press the Settings button on your remote.
- Go to the General tab in the All Settings menu.
- Then, select the About this TV option and click on the User Agreements tab.
- Finally, ensure that Accept All has been selected.
8. Check the TV Location Settings
Streaming content and some streaming apps may be limited depending on your geographic location.
In order to ensure that streaming services such as Disney Plus can accurately determine your location, it is important to ensure that the location setting on your LG TV is correct. These streaming apps may verify the information they obtain with the location setting on your TV.
So do the following:
- Press the Settings button on your remote.
- Then navigate to All Settings in the General tab.
- Select System, then click Location.
- Ensure that the zip code is correct for your current location.
9. Turn Off Your VPN (if applicable)
If you are using a virtual private network, this step is for you. Otherwise, you can disregard it. If you are uncertain what a VPN is, it is likely that you are not utilizing one.
Most video applications and streaming services attempt to prevent VPN traffic. If your VPN is one that Disney+ has been able to block, you likely won't be able to access your streaming content. To test this, the most straightforward way is to turn off the VPN and attempt the Disney+ connection once more.
10. Try Disney Plus on a Different Device
Try to access Disney+ on your computer or other device connected to your network.
If Disney Plus is functioning on your other gadgets but not on your TV, then it's time to reach out to LG support.
If Disney Plus isn't working on any of your devices, the issue could be related to your Disney Plus account or with Disney's servers.
11. Find out if Disney Plus is experiencing any server issues
Use Downdetector to find out if other people in your locality are experiencing difficulties with Disney+. Generally, Disney Plus issues are localized and can be resolved quickly.
If you have been unsuccessful in locating any details on Downdetector, it may be a good idea to reach out to the Disney Plus support team at https://help.disneyplus.com/csp or their Official Support Twitter page at https://twitter.com/DisneyPlus for the most up-to-date information.
12. Perform LG TV Factory Reset
It's time to give one last option a go: a factory reset. This will wipe out your TV settings, including those for your Disney+ app. While this will eliminate any settings and data related to the app, it could potentially resolve any streaming difficulties you've been having.
To do this:
- Press the Settings button on your remote control to open All Settings.
- Select the General tab, then choose Reset to Initial Settings.
- Finally, confirm this selection by clicking OK.
Try running the Disney Plus app again on your LG TV. This should resolve any software or firmware issues that may have been preventing it from running correctly.
